Fifth suspect arrested in tragic murder of 2-Year-old Jeremy Poou Caceres
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - A fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of 2-year-old Jeremy Poou Caceres.
The Prince George's County Police Department announced Monday they're now charging 25-year-old Nilson Trejo-Granados with first and second-degree murder.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations Baltimore spokesperson James Covington confirmed with FOX 5 that Trejo-Granados is an unlawfully present Salvadoran national.
On Nov. 7, 2022, a Department of Justice immigration judge in Newark, New Jersey ordered Trejo-Granados’ removal from the United States.
According to the ICE records, the Montgomery County Police Department arrested Trejo-Granados on March 21, 2023, and charged him with theft. While those charges remain pending, ICE lodged an Immigration Detainer on Trejo-Granados with the Montgomery County Detention Center on March 22, 2023; however, the agency says MCDC refused to honor the detainer and Trejo-Granados was released by MCDC on March 27, 2023.
MCPD arrested Trejo-Granados on September 26, 2023, and charged him with theft again, and attempt to obstruct and hindering.
ICE lodged an Immigration Detainer with the MCDC on Trejo-Granados, once more, on Sept. 27, 2023; however, MCDC released Trejo-Granados from custody on October 12, 2023.

A day after his most recent arrest was announced, ERO Baltimore lodged an Immigration Detainer against Trejo-Granados with the Prince George’s County Detention Center in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
So far, the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit has arrested and charged a 15-year-old from Takoma Park, a 16-year-old from Hyattsville, and two other men they believe drove a stolen vehicle to the crime scene and opened fire. All are being charged as adults, and held without bond.

The two men charged in connection with the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy in Prince George’s County last week were denied bond Monday.
Back on Feb. 8, Jeremy and his mother were walking along Kanawha Street in Langley Park when shots were fired between two groups. Both the toddler and his mother were caught in the middle of the crossfire which, detectives say, was not meant for them.
Jeremy was taken to Children's National, where he was pronounced dead.
Heartbroken mother speaks out after 2-year-old son killed in Prince George's County shooting
The mother of a two-year-old who was shot and killed in Prince George’s County this week spoke exclusively to FOX 5 Sunday. Rose Carceras, 17, was injured in the shooting but Jeremy Poou-Caceres did not survive his injuries.
Officials said his mom suffered "non-life-threatening injuries."
